ESL pilot for a major retail chain in Bosnia and Herzegovina

In one store of a major retail chain in Bosnia and Herzegovina, more than 17,000 ESL digital price labels were implemented using electronic shelf labels. The pilot includes six gateway devices and enables centralized, automated real-time price updates.

 

 

Challenge: Thousands of shelf prices.

In a store with a large number of products, every paper price change meant printing a new label, finding the shelf, and replacing it manually. This work had to be repeated with every update, taking up employees’ time and creating room for errors. The challenge was to keep shelf prices aligned with the central system without having to walk through thousands of products.

 

Solution: ESL — one change in the system, updated on the shelf.

The electronic shelf labels are connected to the central system via six gateway devices. When a price is changed in the system, the update is automatically sent to the corresponding label in the store in real time. Staff no longer need to print, sort, and replace paper price tags.

 

 

 

Pilot results

In a single store, the pilot shows how more than 17,000 digital prices can be managed from one central location. Updates reach the shelves without paper price tags, without errors from manual replacement, and without time lost on printing and placing labels. Customers see the current price next to the product, while employees can focus on other in-store tasks.

Everyday use demonstrates the value of electronic shelf labels for retailers with a wide assortment and frequent price changes.
